winston kitchen, bath & laundry.
This growing family was ready for a kitchen that could truly support the way they cook, gather, and entertain. They envisioned a larger, more functional space that honored their mid-century modern ranch while introducing moments of personality throughout the kitchen, powder room, hallway, and laundry.
kicking things off
Although the home was filled with natural light, the kitchen felt closed off and darker than it should. Walls separating the dining room and an oversized back hallway created disconnected zones, with valuable square footage going unused instead of supporting everyday family life.
out with the old, in with the new.
By removing the wall between the kitchen and back hall, along with the dividing peninsula, we opened the space to light and connection. An enlarged opening to the family room keeps everyone engaged. Custom slab walnut cabinetry anchors the design, paired with matte gray countertops and artichoke green accents.
Thoughtful moments of detail bring the design to life, including the interplay of open shelving and cabinetry at varying depths. This subtle repetition adds rhythm and dimension throughout the space, reinforcing the balance between function, craftsmanship, and visual interest.
tying it all together.
After establishing the design language in the kitchen, we carried that vision throughout the rest of the home. The kids’ bathroom, living room, and a newly refreshed mudroom were thoughtfully updated, with final exterior touches bringing a cohesive sense of craft and continuity to the entire project.
MEET the dull family
We wanted a remodel that would support how our family actually lives: busy mornings, shared meals, homework at the counter, and time together that feels calm instead of chaotic. Our kitchen and nearby spaces are the heart of our home, and we were drawn to Residence Design Build Remodel for their clean, creative approach and mastery of mid-century modern design.
