old settler kitchen & living space.
Sometimes the setting fits your personality, but the home doesn’t quite work. This was the case for the Old Settler kitchen and living space. Through a quickly formed tight-knit relationship, Trish made sure these spaces showcased her client’s personal style and married the beauty of the backyard. Not only did these two enjoy the design and remodel process, but they became good friends as well!
kicking things off
To brighten the space, Trish and team duplicated a window that was in the kitchen and mirrored the same style into the dining room. This required the removal of the existing wall, to install the large window. Another starting point was refinishing the hardwood floors to carry a natural, yet cohesive simplicity throughout the rooms.
out with the old, in with the new.
Once the new window was installed, we focused on elevated appliances, mid-century modern inspired details and unique tile and surfaces. Soft, curved edges were requested by the homeowner to make a safe space for her grandchildren while they were over to play. Trish ensured the island and other edges married this concept throughout the entire kitchen and living space.
New life was restored into this kitchen with every elevated element. The fluting around the island adds tactile texture, while the rounded counter delivers a uniquely warm finish.
The teal cabinets and tile backsplash and natural wood finishes blend together perfectly for a mid-century modern pop. Every piece of this new space is a fresh mix of whimsy and functionality, and is ready for many family gatherings to come!
MEET the Client
When the project was wrapping up, Cathy was just coming home from a trip to Europe. She couldn’t believe the transformation of the space, and was elated this was her home. A reflection of her character, with beautiful new views of her backyard. She looks forward to many meals and gatherings to come with her loved ones.
